Just added photos of all the pubs in Hawkshead (4) and the several nearby. All, hundred's of years old and full of great history and I'll bet some great stories!
Travelled back to glorious England last May after a very long hiatus... (pre-digital photography days). It was thrilling to revisit some of my favorite places and capture 'new and improved' images. So, I now have a new Featured Gallery called England where i will post some of these photos.
Bridge House in Ambleside, England.
This iconic building in the Lake District dates back to the 1600's.
Hard to believe that among it's many uses during it's history, this tiny little building at one time housed a family of eight!
Yew Tree Farm near Coniston in the Lake District of England. Once owned by Beatrix Potter, this farm features a quaint 17th century farmhouse and a barn with a spinning gallery still attached.
I just added a few more pictures to the Lake Superior gallery. These three photos are different angles of the same scene, Chapel Rock, which is located along the the Pictured Rocks shoreline of southern Lake Superior.
I've recently added photos of the Isle of Capri, near Sorrento in Italy, taken last May. The boat ride around the whole Island revealed the breathtaking rugged coastline. There are several grottos, reached by water and they are named for the color of the rocks at their entrance... White, Green, Yellow, and of course the famous Blue Grotto. The color of the water is the most incredible glowing blue. That must be where the name of the color 'Capri Blue' comes from...
One of my favorite things to do is drive around the countryside and capture some of the beautiful scenes and delightful buildings I come across. This trip, several weeks ago, was with my mother, driving around our hometown of Arcadia WI and the neighboring town of Independence. We had great fun reminiscing about her family's history in this area.
